About Statue Of Unity (SOU) 2024
The newly built Statue Of Unity is located in the Narmada district of Gujarat, India. It is the world’s tallest statue ever built, with a height of 182 meters (597 feet). The Statue of Unity is a tribute to the Indian leader Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who is also known as the iron man of India. Shri Narendra Modi announced this project on 7 October 2013 when he was the CM of Gujrat. And a society named Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Rashtriya Ekta Trust was formed to execute the project. In support of the project, the Statue of Unity Movement was started in 2013 to collect the iron needed for the statue.
However, the construction of the monument was completed in mid-October 2018. And the inaugural ceremony was held on 31 October 2018. The total cost of the project was estimated to be about ₹2,989 crores equivalent to US$510 million in 2020. The statue has been described as a tribute to Indian engineering skills. Because to build the world’s tallest statue engineers should be highly skilled and experienced then only it is possible. And our engineers have accomplished that goal of building the tallest statue.
