What is the New National Education Policy (NEP) 2020?
New education policy 2020 has been approved by the Union Cabinet. On 29 July 2020 (Wednesday), Information and Broadcasting Minister Mr. Prakash Javadekar and HRD Minister Mr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank have been announced that the Union Cabinet has been approved the new education policy 2020. After a long time, India is going to change its education policy, the last time in 1992 was the year when India changes its education policy. In the year 1964, the first time India felt that the country needs an education policy when Congress Minister Mr. Siddheshwar Prasad criticized the govt that the government is not looking for valuable education inside the country.
After that in 1968, India introduced its first education policy. To date India introduced free education policy first was in 1968, second was in 1986, in 1992 India revised second education policy from 1986 and now India introduced its third education policy that is New Education Policy (NEP) 2020. In 1992 India could not introduce all parts of the policy due to the lack of budget so the government decided that this time the education budget will be increased from 4.43% to 6% of its GDP.
This is the first Education Policy 21 century of India, which is drafted in 108 pages. The main focus of this policy is to complete the essential needs for the development of the country. What is 5 + 3 + 3 + 4 model in new National Education Policy 2020?
On the place of 10 + 2 education model the government has decided to to implement 5 + 3 + 3 + 4 model. 5 means 3 years of preschool and first and second class, 3 means 3rd, 4th and 5th class, 3 means 6th, 7th and 8th class, and 4 means 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th class. That means the children will start to go to Formal School at the age of 3. In the new education policy, three years of playgroup will include in education.

Whether there will be board examination or not?
Hindi education policy you change in the board examination of class 10th and 12th. There will be board examination twice a year but the pressure of board examination will be slightly down. The main focus will be on conceptual and knowledgeable education. Board examination will be held in two parts objective type questions and subjective type questions. There is the chance that the changes in the frame of board examination will be implemented on the session 2022-2023 under 5 + 3 + 3 + 4 education system.
What are the main changes in the higher education system under the new education policy?
Under the new national education system, the students will learn a four-year graduation program there will be lots of options for dropout. If any student wants to drop out after the first year he or she will get a certificate, dropout after 2nd year he or she will get an advanced certificate, dropout after 3rd year he or she will get a graduation degree, and if he or she will complete all the four years of degree he or she will get a complete graduation degree with research.
Students who don’t want to do a master’s degree and want to do a job after graduation have to complete only 3 years degree and after that, they can get a graduation degree. But if someone wants to do the research he or she can continue in the 4th year of the degree and after that, they will get a graduation degree with research. Masters program for 3 years degree holders will be 2 years, and for 4 years degree holders will be 1 year.
What is the provision for M.Phil and Ph.D. under the new education policy 2020?
The provision of M.Phil has been eliminated in the new education policy in 2020. For a Ph.D. degree, it’s mandatory to complete four years research program.
