The selection of the movies was earlier made on the basis of feature films but later the jury decided to include all censored movies into the category for the awards. The entry fee for the Kerala Film Critics Award is Rs 500 for the censored movies and must have to bare the screening charges for the jury. The movies are selected by the jury of the members of the association for entry for different category awards.
Best film, second best film, and best director are the main categories of the awards given by the Kerala Film Critics Awards. The cash price of Rs 1 Lakh is given to the best film awards.
