Republic Day Speech In English (Sample)

Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen,

First of all, I would like to wish you a very Happy Republic Day. It is an important day for all the Indians. Today when a few fellow Indians talk about the fear of losing basic rights that the constitution has given us, this day becomes more important. Although we celebrate republic day as a national festival since our childhood, we understand the real importance of this day when we grow up.

Gantantra Diwas is celebrated on 26th January every year. On this day in the year 1950, the Constitution of India came into effect. Our constitution gives us various rights and responsibilities too. We live in a democratic country where people enjoy their fundamental rights. In society, we have different castes, religions, and many other things that separate us but on a broader picture, we all are Indians. India is a land that is a great example of “Unity in Diversity”. The beauty of our country is we have a different languages and we also have conflicts and differences but on national festivals, we all stand as a united force.

Since childhood, 26th January has been a memorable day for all of us. Many of us may recall this day as a festival and celebrates it in schools by participating in cultural programs and in other activities. For a few of us, this is the day we get up to watch the republic day parade. The military parade starts from Vijay Chowk and culminates at the Red Fort in the national capital i.e. Delhi.   The weapons and the equipment that the army shows in the parade reflect the power of our arm forces.

On this day the award and medals of bravery are also given to the armed forces and to the civilians too. The main attraction of the bravery awards is the young kids who are awarded by the prime minister for showing ultimate bravery besides being young and having saved the lives of other people.  When the helicopters of the arms forces fly past the parade area and shower rose petals on the audience everyone feels special. The program ends with the national anthem. Whether you are at home or watching the parade personally you get up to give respect to the national anthem. It’s a day that makes us think beyond caste, creed, religion, state, language, and color and we all feel the same emotion of loving our country.

Note – This was our first speech you can say on 26th January republic day. Let’s move to our next republic day speech in Hindi that is made for kids/ students.

Republic Day Speech for Kids (Sample)

Respected Principal, Teachers, and all my dear friends !!!!!

Today I am standing in front of you to deliver a speech on Republic Day. Before moving forward, I would like to wish you all who are present here a Happy Republic Day.

I am so enthralled when my class teacher told me a few days back that you have been selected to deliver a speech on the 26th of January. I am excited but a bit nervous also because I never gave a speech earlier in my school life.

As you all know today we have gathered here to celebrate the auspicious day of Republic day which we also knew as “Gantantra Divas” and as we all know on this day in 1950 our full constitution came into effect. However, it was adopted on the 26th of November 1949 under the chairmanship of our beloved Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar and we all know him as the father of the Indian Constitution, he is one of the greatest leaders of modern India at that time.

It’s a Gazetted holiday but schools remain open to organize different functions in their school just as we are doing. Students perform several cultural activities and sing patriotic songs to remember our freedom fighters and celebrate the big day.

As our principal sir hoist, the national flag similarly, the president of India hoists the flag at Rajpath, and every year they invited special chief guests from a different country.

On the eve of republic day, our president gave a speech in the name of the Nation.

The president of India gave some important awards like Ashoka Chakra and Kirti Chakra to the soldiers of India and a bravery award to the citizens of India.

In every school, college, and in government office we celebrate this day with zeal and enthusiasm.

But the biggest celebration is observed at the Rajpath in New Delhi. Where thousands of people gathered to watch the RDC parade. Chief Guest from different countries of the world is invited to witness the celebration every year. The main attraction of the parade is the tableau of the selected states through which they showcase the culture and tradition of their states. The preparation for this parade is started at least six months before republic day. Artists and students from different parts of the country participate in this celebration to make it a memorable and grand one.

But when our soldiers came with their battalion and all of their arms and ammunition in the parade, the audience gets goosebumps and fills pride at the same time.

And at last, when our air force fighter pilots came with their jets and create our national flag tricolor in the sky it becomes such a proud moment for every Indian.

It’s the day when you can hear patriotic songs in every nook and corner of our street and everyone celebrates this day with brotherhood and they all distribute sweets.

When our constitution came into effect we have some common issues and still today we are also facing some common issues like cleanliness, education, unemployment, and many others but to resolve them government also launched some schemes like Swatch Bharat Abhiyan, Beti Padhao Beti Bachao, Skill India, Make in India and many more but we cannot depend fully on the shoulders of our government we need to do something for our country and we all must take a step to make a better and stronger Nation

We must keep the ideas that were mentioned in the constitution of India which are Justice for everyone, Equality, Liberty, Fraternity, and sovereignty we should not forget the ideas of our Gandhi Bapu and we need to implement their ideas in our life so that we make our nation strong.

So let’s take a pledge that we all will maintain peace and harmony and must remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighters so that we can value the freedom which we got just because of their sacrifices. Before I conclude my speech I would like to say “Patriotism is just like charity it must begin at home”

!!! Jai Hind and Vande Mataram !!!

26th January Speech for Students in English (Sample)

Good Morning respected Principal, teachers, and dear friends !!!!!

My name is (Your name), studying in Class (Your class name), wish to give a speech on the Republic Day celebration.

On this occasion of Republic day, I would like to thank my class teacher for giving me an opportunity to speak about Republic Day.  Today we all are gathered here to celebrate the 74th Republic Day of our Nation.

On 26th January 1950, our country got its constitution. We got our independence on 15th August 1947 but before 26th January 1950, we were following the law and rules set by the British. Since 26th January 1950, we have had our own rules and law that are implemented to all Indians.

The constitution we have today has come into existence after many debates and amendments. On 26 November 1949, the drafting committee of the constitution was formed and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was appointed as the chairperson of the committee. After a debate in both houses, the constitution came into existence and we became a republic country. Republic means that the citizen of the country holds the supreme power to elect representatives. Constitution gives all of us the same right despite any difference of religion, color, or language.

A grand celebration of Republic day is held in the Capital of India, Delhi. On this day, ceremonial parades take place at the Rajpath in presence of the President. The celebration starts at the gates of the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The President of India unfurls the National flag and addresses the nation with a Republic Day speech. The prestigious awards of the country are also given to martyrs and heroes of the army and civilians on this day.

Republic Day Speech for Teacher (Sample)

First of all, I would like to say thanks to the respected guest who came here to encourage us and the students despite having a busy schedule. I would like to say thanks to the principal, my colleagues, and all the students who have participated in today’s program.  As we all know that today our country is celebrating Republic Day. On this day back in 1950, our constitution came into force. The constitution is like a religious book for a country and we need to give it the same respect as we give to our religious book.

As our religious books tell us what should we do and what actions we should avoid, in the same way, the constitution of India suggests to us what should we do as a citizen of the country and what actions we need to avoid. As we have some rules and regulations in schools in the same way we have to follow some regulations to be in this country.

Our constitution has given us a few responsibilities and a few rights too. As both rights and responsibilities come together we are expected to fulfill the responsibility as a citizen first before claiming our rights. Like you have the right to get an education but you also carry the responsibility to be an obedient student.

Many top leaders play a prominent role in the preparation of the Constitution of India. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was the chairman of the constitution drafting committee. At that time when India had many social issues like casteism and others, the constitution gave the right to equality. When the country was facing riots and witnessed the partition on the basis of religion our constitution-makers chose to make India a republic and democratic country. We all are proud of the equality we get here and it’s given to us by our constitution. So, happy republic day, celebrate this day as a festival because on this day India became a republic country.
